A mortgage is a large loan taken out over a long period of time (typically 25-30 years) to finance the purchase of a home.

Generally there are two kinds of mortgage available: repayment mortgages and interest-only mortgages.

There are three different ways of paying the interest on your mortgage: fixed rate mortgages, variable rate mortgages, and capped rate mortgages.
